HAPPY STAMPING!
It is birthday card making time…. Yup I make all of my family birthday cards just once a year and get them completely ready to mail. I started this last year and I have found that mailing cards to family this year has been a snap.
So I was working away in my scraproom, trying a new technique and Mike caught me making a mess. What was the first thing I thought of when I heard the camera? Oh, I hope that was a good angle to catch artwork? NOPE! My first thought was …. Crap.. do I have a bra on? I scrap so often in the middle of the night in my jammies that you just never know :-)
And um…. yes I did.
I am so glad I was having a half way decent hair day
I am spraying CTMH paper flowers with re-inker to match the cardstock that I am using to make the birthday cards.
I think I need to make an INK BOX to contain the overspray.
The ink is: a little alcohol, water and a few drop of re-inker in a spray bottle. Shake until mixed and spray. Depending on how dark you want the color to be you may need to let your art dry and re-coat. I found that 2 coats worked great for these flowers.
After learning this trick I think I am only going to buy White Daisy Variety Pack Flowers (Z1300 $5.95) from now on. You get 75 flowers in each pack in 3 different sizes.
I love that I can make them match any project I am working on.
This card is make using the Zippiddee Level 2 Paper. I am still using that one pack of paper to make cards. BTW did you know that the cards you find in the store have a 200% profit. I think I will keep making my own cards and use that savings to …. BUY MORE SCRAPBOOKING SUPPLIES (hee hee)
I was hanging around the house today not really knowing what to do. The workshop was all set up, the house was clean & and I did not want to start a huge project in the scraproom only to have to stop by the time workshop started. The Zippiddee Level 2 paper pack was still sitting on my desk so I decided to try and make some cards just from that paper pack. I was not allowed to get distracted and pull other packs out. Each design made 4 cards.
Here is what I have so far:
I used other embellies but all of the paper is from Zippiddee only. Aaaaannnnnddd I am still getting cards made. I am putting birthday cards together but as you can see I got a little distracted while working on those. I guess I need to get back to work :-)
P.S. all of the designs are from:

Well I just finished working a long weekend and even though it was fun: we had Oktoberfest, Grapefest, Plano Balloon Festival, Pat Green Concert & the KISS concert all on one weekend! The ER was hopping but with a good team we could get anything done. Our butts were dragging but we made it!
Now that I am home for my weekend I am back in the scraproom and getting ready for “Scrapfest” at the Perry House.
Friday night is WORKSHOP NIGHT
Saturday is CROP NIGHT
I am sooo looking forward to a little time with my scrappy friends and just relaxing with you guys. But today I have a copy of “It’s Complicated” that Amy loaned me and the new season of Grey’s so I am going to play in my room and have a little Jenny’s Time.
See you guys this weekend!
While dropping my Mom off at home yesterday I made a small detour to Greenville, Texas. There is a small scrapbook store (Scrapville) that I wanted to check out. It is not often that I go to a store because I am able to get darn near everything I need from CTMH but it was only a mile out of my way so why not?
I saw a couple of items that caught my fancy, like cow paper for the layout that I want to do about Equest and a couple embellies to go with the paper. I started talking to the owner and comparing notes (store vs consultant) and she told me about some paper racks she was selling. She found white ones that she likes so she was selling the black ones….SCORE!
Just what I have been looking for to hold my cardstock and at a better price than I ever dreamed! I LOVE these racks! Now I am able to “see” what cardstock I am in need of and what colors I never have to buy anymore of :-) But as usual when you incorporate anything new into your scraproom stuff gets moved around. So here is “My Scraproom” as of yesterday:
This is the only part of the closet that you get to see
There are those RACKS! That is just cardstock.
I need a larger sheet of foam board to put behind the top rack to block the sun but it works for now. The tower beside the cardstock is all of my stamps.
I am in the middle of a project but now I can reach my re-inkers and thread.
My paper packs are still above my head.
I use them all the time now that I can see them.
See what one trip to the scrapbook store starts? But my room is clean now :-)
I have recently started clipping coupons again. I stopped, well just because I was lazy. But on a lark I stopped at the store on the way home from work last Sunday and picked up a Sunday copy of the Dallas Morning News. I wanted to see if clipping coupons really made a difference anymore or if I should even bother.
I only clipped the coupons for products I will use and went to the store with a list. The Verdict: I saved $71.00 on that one trip just using coupons! That is a nice chunk of change if I do say so myself. I will keep getting the Sunday paper and talking the time to clip those coupons.
But this time I will make my chore just a little prettier….
The papers are retired but here is what I used:
My Creations Recipe / Photo Box Z1322
Cutting Template: Art & Soul®: Cooking Up Creativity
Lets Get Together Level 2 Paper Pack (you can choose your own)
Coordinating Inks
CTMH 1 1/4 punch (to make the dividers) Z1311
Paper Flowers (your choice)
Filigree Charms Z1269
Now you may ask why I used retired papers? I am using retired papers on my personal project to use up some of the stash I have. But I wanted to showcase the Box used because it is so much more than a recipe box. I resisted buying it because I was not thinking outside the box and did not need another way of storing recipes.
That was until I saw the artwork from a sister consultant (Rebecca Altamirano) and the light bulb exploded! I completely scrap lifted her artwork … I loved it just the way it was.
So now I have a pretty little box to keep my coupons in while I am at at the local grocery store. It just makes my day a little brighter.
I am still working on the incentive card sets. I want to get these sets done now so that when the holidays roll around I will not be scrambling around to get them done and in the mail. I have one card and one set to go :-)
Remember if you spend $200.00 in 2010
I will send you a handmade card set for free.
As you guys know I have been doing a ton of hand sewing as of late and I found a new tool that has made sewing so much easier….
Tim Holtz - Retractable Craft Pick
Yes, Yes I know that it is not a CTMH product but let me tell you WHY I just bought 3 of these….RETRACTABLE! Do you know how many times I have stabbed myself with my old pokey stick?
This one little piece of contraband will keep me out of the ER :-)
I still have some spaces open if you are interested in attending but you need to order soon.

I have been re-organizing and re-introducing myself to supplies I may have forgotten I even had. Boy did I find a dozy.
In a previous blog post I was talking about the reason I have not done workshops or clubs in the past was two-fold.
1. It was a least a $200.00 investment out of my pocket just for supplies
2. Lack of students or people not showing up even after the RSVP
I found a 2006 batch of pre-cut card workshop kits!
The above cards are very pretty but my demo cards in 2006 … well just sucked! In 2006 my card making skills were almost non-existent but I was trying, really really trying.
It took a couple of hours tonight and a little research to find out what each pattern is but here is the updated 2010 version.

Now why am I showcasing cards made with retired paper and retired stamps? Well a couple of reasons, I do not want to waste this paper or a chance to be a little more creative and since these are retired I am going to finish making the other 4 kits I found and use the 6-card set as an extra thank – you for my customers that place orders of $200.00 or more during 2010.
(cards may vary depending on response)
I have been poking around with the September Stamp of the Month and I think I like what I came up with. The papers are long retired but when I saw this image these papers came to my mind. As soon as the Hooligan’s papers come in next week I will try and make some with those papers.
I used the Prisma Glitter and Clear Detail Embossing Powder mix again. Both images have the detail but you can really see it on the left. They are just a tiny bit glittery It is amazing what you can do with clear stamps!
I finished the layout that we are going to make for the September Club Night.
We are going to have so much fun!
September 24, 2010

Remember if you want to attend in September just place your
“Workshop On The Go” order online and RSVP by email.

All other supplies needed for this night I will provide since we are just starting. The layout will be just a little different from the one shown but not by much. I think you will love it!
Place your order in the shopping cart on the right. Remember to have your order go to your house and then RSVP me to let me know you are going to attend.
See you soon.
I have been kicking around the idea of holding a club using the Workshop On The Go Kits that are featured in the catalogs. The workshop will be separate from Crop night in that it will be more like a class and not an open crop night. I am going to a class myself tomorrow so that I can learn how to run a workshop and get a feel for the amount of time needed.
I need some feedback from you guys.... here is what I am thinking.
Now that CTMH has made the Workshop On the Go so easy to follow and so easy for the customer to order I am thinking of starting a monthly "club".
At the beginning of each catalog cycle I will send out an email letting you know what month each WOTG will be used and the Workshop date to match.
See page 24-25 in the Fall / Winter Catalog to see what the workshops and pricing.
Example only:
September "Magnifique"
October "Hooligans"
November "Olivia"
December "Mistletoe"
Here is where you come in: IF you want to do the workshop then you will place an order online for the workshop kit and have it delivered to YOUR house. RSVP me to let me know that you have ordered your supplies and what workshop you would like to attend. If you combine your kit order along with your monthly order then you might get the Stamp of the month for FREE. I love FREE!
The workshop nights will be the Friday nights before Crop nights and will only be a couple of hours.
So are you interested?
I would like to get some feedback by 9-15-10 so that I can start planning and get some dates on the calendar.
