Cleaning out the closet

Well when I was cleaning out the closet in the scraproom I came across a Crop N Style Paper Taker full of kits.  Before I was a CTMH consultant I received kits once a month from Scrap Jammies.  This was 5 years ago so I am not even sure if they are still in business because when I do a search I can not find them.  Any-hoo  I think I will be using these forgotten kits to get some pages done for Kaela’s 7th grade album.  Bear with me for a while while I use the last of my non-CTMH products.

Choir

I was poking around in my scrap closet to day and I found some pre-made layout kits that I made at least 2 or 3 years ago.  I forgot I had them!

The paper for all 4 layouts are  from the Cocoa Collection from CTMH it was a incentive pack that I was really hoping they would offer in the catalog but they never did.  Maybe that is why I was hoarding these papers it was a good thing though because I love the retro feel of these papers with these photos.

  Simple, Clean and just Right.

DSC_0001DSC_0002DSC_0004 DSC_0003

Can you believe these are from the same paper pack?

Teen Girl

This layout has a ton of contraband on it but it does have a single piece of CTMH Cotton Candy Cardstock so I can still post it.  This is a very “simple” layout but it took FOREVER because at first I thought I could just use Tombow adhesive to hold the ribbon on the page but it kept popping off so I had to go back and sew tiny little stitches to help hold the ribbon in place.

I am not sure this one is finished but since I am not sure what else to do at the moment I am going to let it sit and cure for a little while. But at this moment this layout is complete… maybe.

DSC_0006

The “Teen Girl” is a transparency so the photo has some glare on it but you get the idea.  BTW I have had this transparency since Kaela was about 7 years old and I have been just itching to use it!

First Dance

This layout is partially taken from the CTMH Design Book “Reflections” page 60.  There is some CTMH product on this page but I was able to custom order scrapbook supplies for Ford Middle School complete with logos and colors so I will be mixing the custom supplies with CTMH Supplies for both her middle school album and her High School Album.  I have to say that the layout in the book came out better than my layout but I wanted the football ribbon in this layout (darn it) This is also just a single page layout because the only photo I have of the “dance” is this one 5x7 photo.

DSC_0003

Magic layout

Do you want a sneak peak of a layout from the new CTMH design book Magic?  This layout “Parlor Trick” on page 14. Supplies are as follows:

Topstitch paper pack (X7120B)

Chocolate ink

Vineyard Berry Ink

Doddle Art stamps (D1240)

2 sheets of Desert Sand cardstock

DMC 315 thread (Vineyard Berry color)

I changed the layout just a smidge because I cropped my photos just a hair too small and I have a 5x7 photo that I really wanted to use.  But this is what I love about the CTMH Design books, you can see the idea, get inspiration and then just combine your ideas with the book for beautiful layouts every time.  The Magic layout also shows you how to hide your journaling but I wanted mine out in the open so that has been changed too.

I’m 13

image

Kaela created this birthday layout using Studio J.  I have ordered the actual layout but it is not here yet so all have for you to see is this screen shot.  I am just so excited over her artwork I think Studio J just might be the scrapbooking format she has been looking for!  She is going to use this layout as her “try out” for the Ford Middle School Choir Historian position.

Wish her luck!

Here are the “other pages” from her birthday made with traditional scrappin methods. But I like the Studio J layouts better than mine this time.

She did a great job!

The first day of 7th Grade

I am just now starting to scrap 7th grade for Kaela, I know it was last year but hey I am a little late.  Here is the first page of her 7th grade album.

DSC_0001 Going to the bus stop for the very first time.

The Last of the Composition Notebooks

Kaela came home today very tired but asking me to pretty up her other notebooks too.  She handed me 2 of  her notebooks and then a 3rd. She very quickly explained that “my English teacher would like a pretty journal too, here she sent one for you to do”. Kaela handed me 3 new journals and ran up the stairs!  Then yelled over the side of the house…. “oh and I need them back on Monday”. Kaela rarely asks me to do anything scrappy wise for her, how could I resist?   So here is what I came up with.

DSC_0002Here is the one for Ms. Franklin.  All Kaela could tell me about her teacher is that she likes purple… I hope so.

DSC_0004 Here is Kaela’s English Journal

DSC_0006This is the last journal I finished. Kaela was pretty happy.

So it appears I am finished with my homework :-)

The Shopping Cart Link Is Fixed

Everyone say thank you to Mike… he fixed the link for us.

YEA !  You are now able to spend money :-)

shopping cart error

The link in the shopping cart has an error in it.  As soon as Mike gets home I will have him fix it to take you to my CTMH website for a little shopping.  Thanks your for bearing with me. :-)

A Little Alteration

A new school year has begun and along with that I have tried something new Altered Composition Notebooks.  I have seen many CTMH consultants post photos of all the pretty notebooks they have done but I was just chicken to try it.   Chicken no more – here is what I did.

DSC_0001 I made this one for my blog notes.  I always write down ideas first and think on them for a little while before posting and this notebook helps to keep my thoughts in one place.

Why did I wait so long to try this?  It is sooooo easy!

Doing It My Way

Moving from “Product” pages to “Story” pages – are you loosing focus?  Do you scrapbook for art?… for the story? or just to make your albums pretty?

I am sitting at Chili’s listening to PCRT (Episode 033) and during the “Male reads the Mail” section they are reading a letter from Jennifer Stewart.  Jennifer is remembering about her dad’s battle with cancer and on the way to one of the chemo treatments she asked him if he wanted to write down some words of wisdom for his grandchildren?  Even though he wanted to to he was just too sick and weak to focus on his answers.  Jennifer dad only had cancer for 9 months.  Since loosing her dad she lost interest in making each page “balanced & beautiful” and decided to really focus on just recording stories. She even changed her album format to 8x11 to celebrate a new beginning in her memory keeping.

Here is the question:  Are you product driven or memory driven?

Me:  I love the products that make my memories pretty but I am memory driven! I do not even begin the artwork until all of the photos for each project are organized and journaling is done. Once all of my memories are documented then and only then do I give over to the creative side of me.

I have lost so many memories in my family because no one took photos and no one talks about the “old times” or “growing up”, I do not want that to happen in the Perry Family.  So, do we want our stories pretty or recorded? I WANT IT ALL!  I have been scrapbooking for 9 years and I have many finished scrapbooks that are pretty but I am reaching a point of growth that along with pretty I want more of the back story.  I can still do the deeper storytelling but still have the pretty factor and all of the memorabilia in my albums.  I need to think on different ways to make that happen but I can have my cake and eat it too.  This is my hobby and I can DO IT MY WAY.

The “Tommy Project” is finished

I think I am finished making cards for by brother, Tommy.  These cards are for Tommy to send to his daughter and I think they will both love them.  Here are the last few:

Order your digital layouts from Studio J

It really is that easy!

Home From Summer Vacation

We survived a week of camping with no computers!  YEA! It is very rare that the Perry Family goes anywhere without some sort of computer with us at all times but last week we went to Bonham State Park with the camper and just had family time.  Swimming, dinners out of the fire ring and Dutch Oven, and reading…. ok I am telling a fib… I did take my little DVD player but I had to catch up on Grey’s Anatomy before season 6 gets to my house :-)

So tonight we made the mad dash to get ready for school to start tomorrow and I am sitting here on my last night of PTO from work working on some more cards to send to my brother and listening to another episode of  Paperclipping Roundtable.  I have also uploaded 363 photos of just summer to Snapfish for processing.

Tomorrow Kaela starts life as an 8th grade student…

Where has the time gone?

Thank You Vicki Wizniuk

I needed to make a couple of cards that HAVE to go in the mail tomorrow but was feeling bored with my ideas or I could have just been sleepy but my ideas just were not doing it for me. So I was looking at some sister consultant blogs and found this card on Vicki’s blog (Vicki's Blog) and this card jumped off the screen and yelled … MAKE ME!

DSC_0004

She combined the Prisma Glitter & Clear Detail Embossing power to give the flowers a small twinkle of sparkle and it turned out so pretty.  I do not emboss very often and keep forgetting that when working with the Prisma Glitter that I need to turn off the ceiling fan so Radar looks like Tinkerbelle right now :-) I know that you can not see the sparkle but it is there and it really was easy, even a blonde could do it.  So once again I am going to say Thank You to Vicki because right now I am on a card high and feeling very happy about putting these pretty cards in the mail.

I found a solution for my Re-Inkers!

I have been looking for a great solution for my re-inkers and my thread and I think I finally found it!  I found this rack at Amazon.com and although it is MUCH bigger than I thought it would be I think it will work about better than I thought.

DSC_0003

I took a list of the CTMH color families and put it on the wall next to the rack since it have it organized  by “color family”.  Example:  If I need my Gypsy re-inker then I know to look in the Summer Carnival tray and  it will be there.   I am so happy that this is done.

Guess what I did?

I have the new Fall / Winter 2010 Catalog in my grubby little hands and not only have I been making lists for the next 4 months of what I want I have also placed my August order… Sooooo when you come to the September Crop I will have a surprise in store for you.

BUT not only am I planning what I am buying out of this catalog I am also processing the catalogs to send to you!   I will get them in the mail to you the last week in August because the Catalog goes live September 1, 2010.  If you have placed an order 2009/2010 then a FREE catalog is coming to your house.  If you have not, then well …

You still have homework…

I have posted the 2010 Retired List  on a previous post. If you have any items on that list you will need to get them ordered because once they are gone, they are gone!  Even if it is before December.
