Still Removing Snaps

I just wanted to drop in to say that I have not fallen off the face of the earth.

I am still in the process of removing the snaps from the stamp sets and while it is fun to watch how I get a little more room in my stamp drawers with each set done it is a slow process.

When I started this drawer I could not get one more set in - not one!

I have 14 stamp drawers and I am only on drawer 3 - because even with band aids giving a measure of protection to my hands the wire cutters start to hurt after working on one complete drawer.

The plus side of all of this besides more room to store stamps is that I am finding a few duplicate stamp sets.  That means those will be up for sale.

I am also finding a few sets that were placed in the wrong drawers.  It drives me crazy when I "know" I have a stamp set but can not find it.

The lesson I can pass on today:

Every once and a while - take a peek at all of your stamps and make sure you have them in the correct spot that you want them in.

Not only does this save time but it can also save money because if you can find the set - then you will not buy it again thinking that you do not have it.

Stamp Sets - Removing The Snaps

I am working on a little project that I have wanted to do for a while.

I am removing the snaps from the back of my stamp sets.

I knew I needed to do something to get more space for stamp storage but was not sure what.  Then I saw a video on how to remove the snaps.
Brilliant!
One problem... it involved using soldering iron to melt the snaps off then cutting the top flap to fit into a slit in the main part of the storage envelope.

Self I said... you and a soldering iron should not play together - nope that is not going to happen.  Then as an after some thought I also remembered that last time I tried to trim the stamp envelopes it was a hack job - not pretty at all.

But I continued to think on it and even played around during one of the crop nights.

I had a thought to just slip a craft knife under the snap and cut it off and that worked some but I was scared of slipping and cutting a finger off and in my brain I still could not work out a way to keep the flap closed once the snap was off.

Then a sister consultant came up with this idea.

Take wire cutters and snip the snap off.  Full size cutters work better, I am showing you with little ones because I needed one hand for the camera.

Be careful because the little snap will go flying.  It will keep the cat entertained for sure - trying to find where the white pieces fly then fall.

Then fold the top flap over and mark the ends of the flap.
 See the black dots?

Small craft scissors fit in the old snap hole nicely.
Make a straight cut from black mark to black mark.

Fold the flap into the slit you just cut.
Bingo it is perfect.

I love this idea and it is "Jenny friendly".

I told Mike that I will be needing a set of wire cutters for myself so that I can keep this up on my new stamp sets.  I was goofing off and telling him that I needed a pink pair and he said he would find them for me at Lowes.

I better get back to work because I have 14 drawers of stamps that I need to de-snap.  Thank goodness I have a good book playing on the iPod.

Sweet Friend

Do you have a sweet friend that needs a pretty spring card.
I have just the card for you.

This card is super simple to make and if it looks familiar it is because I copied it right from the catalog.
You forgot that you can use your catalog as inspiration did you?

No worries...

Here are the supplies that you will need:

Just a little "Urban"

This month I am featuring the Urban Paper Pack in my
workshops that are being held on:
April 19, 2016 (daytime workshop)
April 21, 2016 (evening workshop)

Along with the artwork we will be making during the workshops I wanted to show some layouts that I blogged about back in October.  These were layouts that we were learning with at the 2015 CTMH Convention but since we were in a party mood that night I brought them home and finished them during the October Crop Night.

The more I work with the paper the more I like it!  It has that "Urban" feel to it of course but it can be morphed more subtle layouts.   I can even see myself using this paper if Kaela was doing design work in her Art classes.

Note to self:  Text Kaela and ask for photos of her in the studio....

If you are on the fence about this paper take a chance. I think you will be pleasantly surprised with the finished products you will be able to create.
