The Glitter Is Flying

I have been informed by the child that I am making her Graduation Announcements.  I guess it is lucky for me that I saved a card four years ago that I found on Pinterest that I loved! I pinned it, printed it, and put it in a safe place so that I would not forget that it is the card I wanted to make.

(Original Artwork from Pinterest)

Now it has been so long ago that I have no idea who the original artist is so if it is you - know that I love your design!

Kaela does not want her school colors used because she thinks it will look like a flag (red, white, blue) and she wants them to be simple elegance.  I think we can do that.

First step - getting Cricut Craft Room to work on my Mac.  We never did get it to work and had to use the windows side of my computer to run CCR.  Then we (Mike) found the measurements that worked for the card.  This is where retired cardstock comes in really handy.

I am not putting the hat or "Happy Graduation" on the card, just the year so we wanted the number to be slightly bigger.  Done.

Second step - cutting the glitter paper at 2 in the morning.  I am still covered in glitter.  My original plan was to have several mats loaded and ready to go into the cricut for continuous cutting but even after seasoning the mats I only had one mat that was perfect for the job.  I lost an entire sheet of glitter paper because the mat was way too sticky and I could not get the paper off of the mat.

So while waiting for the cricut I decided to finish laundry.  Um - Mike is going to be going on a business trip with glitter on his clothes (shhhhh) that is just one the hazards to being married to a crafty person.

I am using the Colonial White card value pack so that is a huge help!

Card Base - Colonial White  X1410 $14.95 (50 pack) need 2 packs
Mat - Black Cardstock 1386 $14.50 (24 sheets) used 16 sheets
Year- Light Silver Glitter Paper  Z1829 $5.95 (Black & Grey)

There are two only sheets of the light silver glitter paper in the packs so I have been adding a pack to my personal monthly order since school started.  I love glitter so I have no problem having the extra dark grey and black sheets in my personal stash.  I need about 4 more sheets of the light silver to make 100 announcements.  I was thinking that they grey would work but I do not like it as much.

I almost have all of the components to start assembly.  I need to print the insert cards and order one more pack of card bases.  Then I will pop in some of my favorite movies and play.

Cost breakdown:

Balfour: 100 announcements

Official Graduation Announcements $100.00
Name Cards $25.00
Announcement Tissue Inserts $52.00
Postage for oversize envelopes $100.00 (2 stamps per card)

Hand Made: 100 Announcements

Card Base w/ envelopes $30.00
Mat - Black Cardstock $9.60
Year- $36.00
Vellum "Tissue Inserts" $6.99
Postage: $50.00 (one stamp per card)

Balfour is charging $1.00 a card just for the basic announcement.  I am able to make a card with the same information exactly how Kaela wants it for .75 a card.  I will take that savings!

Balfour also wants to charge another $80.00 for "Party invitations" but I will be able to make those for under $10.00 to add inside the announcements.

This is where I am also very happy I took the time over Christmas to update my address book because now I will not be scrambling for address.

Happy Crafting!

February Crop Night Layouts

So last Saturday was Crop Night - and I was killing it with the page kits that I made up earlier in the month.

So during the crop my main goal was to get the photos on the page - then I could go back later and add my stitching while watching movies or what not.  For the following layouts I did everything but the stitching during the crop.

Since we are in the middle of a Texas Ice Storm and the whole DFW area is closed until further notice I have spent the last two days in my jammies with Netflix happily stitching these pages.  I have not even gone to Curves - nope not with ice on the ground.

This poor little last layout kept falling over while I was trying to take the photo so it looks a little funny.

Now if you notice I am using MOSTLY retired papers.

The rainbow layouts are the only current paper packet that I made page kits with.  WHY?  Because it is time to try and use up as much of my older papers as possible.  CTMH makes such pretty papers that I never want to cut them up but there comes a time where I have too or I would very easily because a hoarder.

I am using Halloween and Christmas papers that I have had for years (yes years).  The "Surgarland" pages are halloween papers.  It is just several different paper kits all mixed up.

I have another 10 page layouts that I need to give the finishing touches to from Friday when I was spending the day playing a couple of my sister consultants.

This Family 2010 is coming along.

Happy Scrapping and stay warm.

Finished Workshop Projects

I never posted the finished January workshop project photo!

It is too cloudy today to take photos of the "Brushed" pages we worked on last night.  Once the sun comes back out I will get those posted for you.

I hope you have a wonderful day.

All In A Days Work

Just before I died with the sinus infection and bronchitis I went to an all day crop in Denton and had the best time.  My upline was hosting a crop for her downlines and her customers just to come and play.  I grabbed by "family 2010" bucket and started making page kits to take with me.

I made page kits for the entire 2010 family album year, then packed up my standard cropping supplies along with all of my stitching supplies.  Yep I took all of my thread and all of my stitching templates.

While I did not finish the whole year I did make a pretty good sized dent in the pile.

The next 2 layouts are a design that my upline taught us YEARS ago and I had it sitting in my demo album.  I found it when I was updating my gear.  It made us laugh when I pulled out the finished layouts and just added my photos.  Then we sat there and tried to remember what paper pack this was.  We never did remember.

Sorry for the glare on the photos.  I printed these in 2010 before I knew that matte finish looks better for blogging.

Not bad for a day of fun.

Studio J / 11th Grade Done!

I am super excited!
I have Kaela's 11th Grade Album complete finished!

At the start of this year I was feeling the pinch because at the time I had only "started" working on her 10th grade album and was feeling like I would not be done by graduation.

I know, I know - I am a always saying that you are never behind in scrapbooking, and that as long as you are staying organized and getting the journalling done then you can scrap the pages anytime BUT I did not want Kaela graduating from College and  I am just finishing her high school albums.

So I used Studio J to catch up.  I finished Kaela's 10th grade album before I became sick (traditional style)  and I did her 11th grade album on Studio J during the Christmas holidays.  Today I sent the saved pages to be printed and shipped to me.
Here is the finished 11th grade album:

I was joking with Kaela that her 11th and 12th grade years might be in the same album because I did not have many photos for these years.  I have the first half of the 12th grade already uploaded in Studio J and will be working on those pages soon.  Then all I have to do pop the photos in the pages and should have all of the high school albums done about a week after graduation!

XO Craft Fair Allen

It is with a heavy heart and disappointment that I tell you that I will not be at the XO Craft Fair in Allen today.  The craft fair is still on - but I am sick!

If you follow me on FB then you know that I went to the doctor on Thursday and told that I have an Upper Respiratory infection in my chest and allergies.  Now the allergies are a sinus infection along with the chest infection and a low grade fever.  I am on the normal cocktail of antibiotics and cough meds along with an inhaler since my asthma decided it wanted to join the party too.

What is the Nyquil jingle?

The nigh time sniffing, sneezing, coughing, aching, stuffy head, fever so you can rest meds?  Not so much!  Try coughing and sneezing at the same time?  I think I found a new talent!

So I started the meds on Thursday so they should start kicking in today.
My goal is to be all better by Tuesday because after that I have a very busy week.

Oh and do not worry about coming over on Thursday or Saturday of this coming week for workshop and crop.

There will be no sick cooties because the house is being cleaned and sanitized on Thursday by a professional before anyone gets here.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Valentines day!

Stay safe and enjoy your special day with loved ones.

I am going back to bed.
