Not done yet, yep I am STILL working on the Palo Duro Album
I took a break for about a week to work on my Christmas cards and those are finished and ready for the mail. Time to get back to the vacation album because the ladies at work are really wanting to see what we did on vacation. Evon is in Palo Duro now, and we want to compare photos too.
Here are the layouts that I finished this week in addition on the Christmas Cards.
Please pray that the washing machine gets fixed this week. If so I will be able catch up on laundry and scrap at the same time, if not then I will be going to the laundry mat….. I hate going to the laundry mat – it cuts into my scrapbooking time darn it!
Ok here it is, the card that the Perry family will be sending out this year.
So did you find the card in the catalog? It is on page 60. I loved the original color of the cards but if you think Chocolate and Twilight are not Christmas colors then make this card yours and change the colors.
Here is the supply list that I used:
Makes 50 cards
Twilight Cardstock (50 sheets)
Cut each sheet 8 x 7 to make one card base
Chocolate Cardstock (16 sheets) X5643
White Daisy cardstock (16 sheets) 1385
Winter Joy stamp set C1468
Chocolate ink stamp pad Z2111
Clear Detail Embossing Powder Z821
Prisma Glitter Z134
Bitty Sparkles Z1263
DMC Floss 931
(the floss is from a local craft store. 931 is the color that matches Twilight)
You can not see the detail in the photo but I embossed the “Joy” stamped on the front with a mix of Clear Detail embossing powder and Prisma Glitter. It adds just a touch of sparkle and makes the word “Joy” pop.
Before you start using Prisma Glitter turn off all ceiling fans in your room or you will look like Tinkerbelle sneezed on you before you are done.
The card in the catalog only uses:
cardstock, stamps, ink and ribbon.
You can keep it simple or add your own touches to really make this card stand out. But remember to keep it fun. Your friends and family will love getting this hand made card.
I have 10 done and 40 more to go.
I can never seem to leave my scrap room alone. I like to keep a tidy space when working and love to organize my scrap room too, but I have had one problem area.
Where do I put my photos / memorabilia that is ready to scrap?
Well in the past I have used the plastic drawer units – one drawer for each year. But I just was not happy with how that looked in my room. I also wanted to keep my window area open because I love the light that comes in.
Well when I was at Target today I found the perfect solution and now I am kicking myself for not getting this sooner.
The white matches my Elfa units that are already in the room and the black cubes play off the spots of black I have in here too.
This unit will be used for the “family albums” only
I am able to label each cube with what year each album will be. It seems that while I love to scrapbook, I am a very slow scrapper. It is very possible that I will have all 8 cubes filled with waiting material just ready to be scrapped.
What did I do with the plastic drawers you ask?
I am still going to use the drawers but these are only for Kaela and her activities. I make Kaela her own album every year, maybe that is why I am so slow getting the “family albums” done.
This child will never be able to say she does not remember her childhood because she will have a scrapbook for every year of school.
So for every little money (the cube set was on SALE) I was able to find the perfect storage solution for my scrap room.
I am so happy!
After working all night I have the cutting finished for the Christmas cards. Now I need to start stamping, embossing and stitching.
So the photo is another hint. I am pulling the design right out of the CTMH Fall / Winter 2011 Catalog. The original design is not embossed or have any stitching but I have to put my touches in these cards too.
This year I will also alternate stamping and stitching so that I do not give myself scrappers pinky again. I will also need to remind myself to turn off the ceiling fan BEFORE embossing to save a ton of time cleaning up.
It is amazing how fast the clean up is if you do not have embossing power blowing all over your room.
It hit me today that it is OCTOBER! So I need to take a time out on the “Palo Duro” Album so that I can get my Christmas Cards made.
Yes you heard right…. Christmas Cards.
I have to make 50 cards so if I do not get started today they just will not get done and in the mail on December 1st.
I started off with a fairly simple design that I found in my 9033 Wishes™ Card Confidence Program book but while I was checking to see if I had enough product on hand (cardstock, stamps, ink) I found myself turning up the volume on the design by adding stitching and embossing. I am going to give you a hint about the card… it is on page 50 of the book.
So, are you making your cards this year? If you are interested the Wishes book is a must have to make your card making: Faster, Simpler, Easier.
Just the way Close To My Heart likes it!
Nice, fast, layout… yep that is what I thought this was going to be. I was having a scrappers block this week and just could not get a layout to form in my head for these photos. Last night I woke up from a dead sleep, grabbed my CTMH Imagine book (page 88 – 89) and thought:
“This will be a snap!”
If you know me you will know that there is something very wrong with that statement… because I can always make it harder than it needs to be
and of course, I did!
Can I ever make a layout, without the SEWING ON THE PAGES part?
I think the whole look turned out fantastic but holy cow did a 2 page layout have to take over 24 hours to complete?
Time for me to put the needle down!
Last week was the monthly Crop that I hold in my home once a month. I have a dedicated crop space in what used to be the game room so now I am able to have up to 6 guest each month. The Crop is FREE and we always have a relaxing, yet normally very productive night.
Here is the artwork that I was able to finish. NOTE: These layouts were finished during the crop, and I was still learning how to use the Cricut.
Both of these layouts used the Cricut, and stitching.
These next layouts appear to be unfinished but I know I have some embellishments that will be perfect for these pages but since I am having a brain fart as to where I put them, I will leave some space on the layouts to place them later.
So for me I have 4 pages from start to finish in one night. That does not seem like a ton of work to you? Well factor in food, laughter and girl time and I finished a ton of memories while making more.
Are you coming to the next Crop?

This past week I noticed a good little problem I have. I was in My Scraproom just working away, I happed to look up and saw this:
And then Kaela happened to look up and I was able to get this cute photo!
Kaela also took a GREAT photo of Radar.
I am so impressed with this shot!
We have a wonderful house, but it seems that as a family we are willing to squeeze into the smallest room of the house just to spend time with each other. The only members of the family was Tink a Dink and Callie the Cat.
