Did You Know?

That there is only…..

Only 11 days, 12 hours, 7 minutes, and 53 seconds left until Convention 2012 in Dallas, Texas!  Smile

Can you tell that I am just a little excited?

I am all packed and ready to spend 4 fun filled days in Dallas with about 2000 sister CTMH consultants learning about all of the fun and exciting news that has been planned for the next year.  I can barely sleep!

To try and keep myself busy I have been working on a couple of layouts.

These photos are from a Cruise Kaela took with her Grandparents in 2008.  There will not be much journaling because Kaela says she can not remember what they did.

I am using the Footloose (X7151B) paper pack the accents are Wooden Shapes (Z1693) Seaside, ribbon is Smoothie.

Now that my brain is back into “play mode” I am going to get back to work.  It makes the time move faster for not only picking Kaela up at the airport tonight but also I want to go to Convention already!

So Far….

What have you been up to so far this summer?

If you follow me on Facebook then you know that I bought a car a couple of weeks ago. We are keeping my Saturn Vue because it can tow the camper and it is paid off.  That means we can have more family fun (cheap) vacations!

BTW – I am still getting used to a SMALL car.  Smile

Mini Cooper

Yes this is my car – the dealership had a better photo than I could seem to take.  Meet “Bailey” as Mike named her.  She fits in the garage really well Smile

When we last spoke I was putting Kaela on a plane to spend 14 days in Seattle and Alaska with her Grandparents, Aunt and Cousins.  She has been looking forward to this trip all year.  We are picking her up tonight at midnight at the airport.  CAN NOT WAIT TO SEE MY GIRL!

While Kaela has been gone those of us who are left behind…. Me, Daddy, Grandma, Tink and Radar all went camping for 4 days in Austin Texas.

We went to McKinney Falls State Park and had a very restful couple of days.  On Friday we drove into Austin to walk around the capitol.  I have lived in Texas since I was 13 and this was my first time to visit.  What an impressive history lesson!

Once we made it back to the park Mom and I went hiking and found the “falls”

It was a long, HOT walk and we darn near got lost on the way back because I could not find the entrance back to the trailhead.  Thank goodness for butterfly nets – because that is the only way we found the trailhead.

We had a blast but once we made it back home I had a mountain of laundry to do.  Why does that always happen?

Almost Time

Only 33 days, 8 hours, 56 minutes, and 34 seconds left until Convention 2012 in Dallas, Texas!

I am so excited!  Today was my day to get organized for convention.  The list of supplies that we will need came out yesterday (YEA).  It is this time of year that I am grateful that I have duplicates for some of my supplies like scissors and adhesives as for the rest I can live with it packed for the short term.  Come to think of it the only products that are not duplicates are the stamp pads and some of my stamp blocks.

This year the family is staying home since it is only about 20 miles from my house Smile  so my CTMH sister Tebble will be rooming with me.

It is her first convention so I thought I would make a notebook for all of the information that we get in 3 days.  It always helps me to go back a read after convention is finished.   Here are the finished books.

I goofed on mine… I applied adhesive to the wrong side of the circle so the lighter side is up but I wanted the chocolate side up.  Oh well – it is not as cute but cute enough for me.

I loved Tebble’s!

I also took the time to get the photos printed we will need for the projects and will pick those up on Monday.

Did I happen to mention that I am just a little excited?

All Packed–Can I go now?

My New BFF (sorry Amy)

My dear friends I have a confession.  For years I have had a special scrapbooking tool that I have not shared. Today I need to spill the beans after all of these years to end my guilt.

Google Calendar!

Ok – all kidding aside, around 2006 Mike convinced me to give up my paper “mom book” (Day Runner) in favor of the Google Calendar.  I was very leery of not having a hard copy of my daily life because lets face it half the time I am not even sure what day it is so I needed my mom book like most people need coffee.  But over the years this computer version of my life proved to work very well.  Now that I have my windows phone I really love Google!

Why do I bring this up now?

I am starting to work on Kaela’s 8th grade album. I pulled all of the photos out only to realize this is the year that I only had choir performances and photos of her work at Equest.   It is rough on a scrapbooking Mom when the school will not let you past the front desk because the kids are growing up and do not need you anymore.  Sad smile   I could still chaperone events but they frowned on my visiting like we all do in grade school and I was not needed as a room mom anymore.  Why does Kaela need to grow up anyway?

How am I going to make a full album with very little photos.  Ah!  She went a 2 week trip with her Grandparents the summer before 8th grade and I have those photos!

Where does a calendar fit in?  Well I did not have to tear the closet apart looking for the 2010 mom book just so I could look back and reference the days that she was gone, to find the time line for the photos.  All I had to do was open my calendar and find August 2010 – print – then I have all of my notes in less than 3 minutes.

Now I just have to sort photos from a trip that I was not there for.

This should be fun.

Hey!  School is out, I can just wake Kaela up at 3:00 am to help me sort these photos.  Smile  who needs sleep?
