If you know me at all you know that I love to listen to the
Paperclipping Roundtable podcast.
In this episode they are talking about the importance of journaling vs just putting photos on a page and calling it done. I love journaling and you know that I consider it central to almost all of my layouts but if you would like a different point of view give the Less Epic episode a listen.
If you do not have time to sit and listen to the show today, go to ITunes and subscribe to Paperclipping Roundtable in the podcast section.
It is FREE!
By the way: Yes I know that I am a little behind on my podcast listening. I like to save up a couple of weeks and listen to them all at once.
About 6 weeks ago Kaela came home from school saying she had to do an Art Journal for her Pre-AP Art class. I was super excited about this project because I have been hearing a lot about art journaling but had never seen an art journal.
It took a couple of weeks just to get the painting, decoupage and page blocking done but while step was drying she was working on the art work for each page.
Day One: let the party begin…
Ok so now we are on to painting and drying
What a mess!
The book needed to be flattened so she stuck it under her art box.
After working all of spring break she finally finished yesterday.
Here is the master piece!
It is in the Manga Style so it starts backwards…
I am only going to show a few of the inside pages
YEA! Now I can have my crop room back!
I can not wait to find out what her grade will be.
Good Luck Bear!
With the upstairs air conditioner being on the blink and not feel well Wednesday or Thursday by creative time has been limited this week. I finally felt more like myself today and decided that I needed to replenish my stash of customer thank you cards for future use.
Since my brain was still in the cold medicine haze I pulled out my Wishes card confidence book and let it do my design. So the card that you are about to see is found on page 52 of Wishes. The original card is 7 x 5 but I like the standard 4 x 5.5 so I altered the measurements.
The little pink card will go on the left inside panel so that I still have room to write my little note on the right side.

So you have been thinking about having a scrapbooking party but you do not want to have to get your house ready for guests.
How about you have your scrapbooking gathering at my house?
Yep you heard me right! If you have been on the fence about having a CTMH Gathering but did not want the hassle of having it in your home I will be more than happy to have it at my house for you.
I have a large crop area upstairs that will hold 6 guests and if your gathering has more than 6 people we can hold it in my living room. You provide the snacks and I provide the venue it is a win – win situation for all.
Also do not forget about being able to have online orders count towards your final sales. I will open an Close To My Heart Online Gathering in your name so all of your out of town friends can shop in their homes and it will count towards your sales.
This collection could be yours!
Call or email me and we can set up a time that works for you.
I wanted to try out the new website as a “customer” so I just set up an account and placed an order just like you would if you placed an order online. I was amazed at how easy it was! I spent $55.00 mostly in the “While Supplies Last” section and also picked up the Stamp of the Month that I forgot to order during my personal monthly order.
During the checkout process it even asked if I wanted to be a part of the March Crop Gathering Order that was open, of course I said yes so that my order would help the hostess of that “gathering”. For March it is me, because I am being the “test” hostess to make sure there are no bumps in the process.
The surprising part… was that shipping was cheaper online than placing live order with me. I am not sure why but my shipping was only $4.75 and I ordered paper packs and a bulk pack of album page protectors that I have been needing. So it looks like placing online orders are cheaper too.
On a side note: The How To Books
Are being discontinued.
I know it is a shock but if you have been on the fence about getting these do it now!
" 'Reflections' is now out of stock, and "Originals" will be unavailable very soon. The remaining how-to books are also quickly approaching run-out levels."
Wow, it is amazing how many changes can take place over night! During the last CTMH convention we were told about a new Online Business address that would transform our websites. Last night those websites went LIVE!
If you have my blog saved in your favorites you will be fine, Mike has re-directed all traffic to the new address. But if you had my old MyCTMH web address in your favorites then you will need to change the address to:
http://jenniferperry.ctmh.com/
The second super exciting change is that now we have a monthly newsletter. You will automatically receive this newsletter in your email because you are a customer of mine. You can opt-out but I think you will enjoy hearing about all of the constant campaigns and seeing all of the beautiful artwork that CTMH creates.
Of course I will continue to post artwork on my personal blog.
And last but not least I am going to start opening a monthly online gathering that will be the date of the crop night. My hope is that I will pick one person that will attend crop as the hostess that month, Any orders she receives will count towards hostess gifts for her. So if you have an order that you would like to place, you can go online and "join" the gathering date.
Your order will ship to you as soon as you place the order, there is no waiting for the crop night. It only takes $150.00 in orders to start getting FREE items with hostess rewards! This would be a great time to join in the fun and help your fellow scrapper out.
I will announce in the newsletter who the next hostess will be!
Stay tuned!
Over the next couple of days CTMH will be upgrading our online web store. If you click on the shopping cart and nothing happens please be patient, I have seen the new online sites and they are AWESOME!
You are going to love it!
Would you like more bang for your buck? Do you want your scrapbooking budget to go just a little farther? Have you considered ordering a Workshop on the Go kit every month to make that happen?
Did you know that you can order the CTMH Workshop on the Go right from your Idea Book (on the same page as the paper packs), or this blog (Order Kits Here) and get the same supplies that I use to teach class delivered right to your door?
Need Details you say:
There are 16 different workshops a year, 8 per Idea Book and each kit is $29.95. That is a discount off the full retail price. Take the above workshop as an example, if each item was purchased separately it would cost $34.00 before tax and shipping. But because you are ordering a kit you will receive:
G1034 $29.95
Workshops on the Go™ Lucy Kit (includes):
My Acrylix® Lucy Workshop Stamp Set
Lucy Paper Packet
Colonial White Cardstock (2 sheets)
Lucy Complements Glittery Rub-Ons
Bitty Sparkles
Instructional Guide
That is a full size My Reflections paper pack, an Exclusive C-Sized stamp set, one or two full Accessory packages, some Neutral Cardstock and the Instructional Guide.
With just those supplies you will be able to create 2 (2 page) layouts and still have some product left over to make cards or other home décor projects. I have been able to get a third layout finished with just a little extra cardstock.
Do you ever feel like you are behind on your scrapbooking? Well take the minimum of 2 layouts per 16 workshops and that is 32 layouts a year and 16 new EXCLUSIVE CTMH stamps sets to add to your collection!
That is what I call a huge BANG FOR YOUR SCRAPBOOKING BUCK!
This week I do not have my normal 4 days off in a row at work, I have to work tonight and that always breaks up my creative time too. So rather than start scrapbook pages and have to leave in the middle of an artistic brain storm I decided to make cards today. But what cards to make?
One of the reasons I love being a CTMH consultant is that I have access to the CTMH consultant website! What a wealth of information and ideas there are! So after checking out some of the ideas I settled on one of the workshop cards.
Here is the original:
I loved how simple it is but was not sure if I have the supplies. Sure enough I had just a little of my Roxie paper left (from the Fall 2011 Idea Book). But I need “Thank You” Cards… here is what I came up with using the above pattern for inspiration.
Supplies used:
X7140B Roxie Level 2 Paper Pack
1388 Colonial White Cardstock
(from my scrap buckets)
D1482 My Acrylix® Love Life
D1361 My Acrylix® Thank You
Z1463 Just Blooms® Flutter Paper Shapes
Z2118 Desert Sand Exclusive Inks® Pad
Z2196 Smoothie Exclusive Inks® Pad
Z697 Sponge
DMC - ECRU “Colonial White” Thread (for stitching)
So with a pattern and a free afternoon I was able to use some left over paper and made some beautiful cards.
After debating all year about when to let Kaela take Drivers Ed, I went ahead and signed her up for her classes to begin in August. Her summer is jam packed with a trip to Alaska with her grandparents, getting her wisdom teeth out and now Drivers Ed. She will finish just after her 16th birthday but we will not let her drive alone until next summer. We want her to have tons of practice driving before handing her the keys.
Why am I telling you this? Well she is required to take a notebook to class everyday…..(hee hee) I had to!
My personal order came in yesterday and this paper is from the Cruisin’ paper pack. (X7154B) The sticker is an old Me and My Big Ideas that I still had around and the keys are one of the stickers that I have been hoarding in her “high school” box of supplies that I have. It has any scrapbooking supplies in it that pertain to high school. The composition notebook is one of the ones that I picked up during the school supplies dash every year.
In case you are wondering…
she will be driving Dad’s VW Bug so the sticker was a must!
If you want to make your own book it takes 2 sheets paper to cover both sides. Some cardstock for the spine and then you just decorate the front as you like. I use the heavy “red line” adhesive to hold the paper to the cover because it will get a lot of use and I try to tie ribbon somewhere on the cover to help hold the papers on. Use the notebook for measurements. It might take 30 minutes to make the whole notebook.
So Fast, Easy and Fun!
I found the cutest card on the CTMH website and just had to make it. Just 3 sheets of paper 1 White Daisy cardstock, 1 Stripe and 1 Blue Stars makes 12 cards! You will need 12 card bases.
