Making A.......

I am putting this here to hold myself accountable. As most of you know, I went back to work in August and while it is part time I do go in everyday. This has been the hard part... even when I worked full time, I only worked 3 (12 hour) shifts a week. That gave me one day to recover and 3 days a week to play (scrap). This going to work everyday, in the middle of the day has really been hard to adjust to as far as fitting in scrapping time.

My first thought was Monday: I have every Monday off but that quickly became the "get everything house related done" day. Laundry, groceries, various appointments. Then it was Sunday: This works sometimes but not consistent.

So here is my plan:
After dinner and what not that goes along with the evening obligations I am giving myself permission to go upstairs and play in my scraproom.

I am not sure why I have gotten it into my head that once Mike is home I can not play... this has never been the case and he normally will follow me up and sit next to me while I play. But I need to start making time for me. I miss scrapping and creating and I need it for my soul. It really is my "me time"

So this year and I am making it early...
You know that resolution thing....
I am making time for me time. My time to create, plan classes or just sit in my studio and contemplate the next CTMH convention or album retreat.
Maybe even print some photos?
It has been while since I have done that.
Speaking of photos?
I think most of my photos are on facebook this year.  It is time to get them off my phone and into a scrapbook.

Jeepers Creepers

Let's try this again....

I typed the title then hit "publish" - that is not going to help you see anything.

Take 2

Over on Facebook I posted that I was listening to a good book and working on the Jeepers Creepers layouts from the Workshops Your Way.   This was going to be last months scheduled workshop before I started working again.

I have since worked out a deal with my boss to have one Saturday off a month so that I can have Crops & Workshops - they now just have to be on the same day.

Workshops will be from 3pm -5pm
Crop will be from 6pm - 12am (although we have stayed longer)

So if you would like to join me for a workshop be sure to bring personal projects to work on and stay over for Crop.  This could be a win / win for all of us.

Back to the layouts:
These are CTMH stock images but my layouts are exactly the same (minus the same photos) and will be on display during Crop time this Saturday.

I am debating if I want to send these layouts to my sister and her little girl that is the perfect age to fit the theme of the layouts or be selfish and keep these for myself.  They are just so darn cute.

Decisions, Decisions .....

Oh My.... 11 Years!

They say time flies when you are having fun and I have to say that yes it does!    My upline sends out an email every month with CTMH Anniversaries and Birthday's and this was in the email....

Jennifer Perry, Oct. 4th, 2005 (11 years!)

I was having so much fun that I did not even realize that yesterday was my 11th year with CTMH.

It took a bit of looking but here is a photo of me working one of my first craft fairs that I ever had a booth in.

I have learned a few things since back then.

1. Do not have an outside booth if you sell paper.
2.  Take extra money for the items you want to buy from other vendors.
3.  Take a booth parter (mostly Kaela) for food runs and potty breaks.
4. Take extra set up supplies - you never know who might need a touch of tape while setting up.
5.  Have fun!

#1 was learned the hard way as I was hanging on to the tent as the wind howled and the unexpected snow fell.    There have been far more good times and funny times than bad I am happy to say.

I still can not believe it has been 11 years.

How about we celebrate?

I happen to be having a Crop on Saturday.... Want to come play?

I may have to go get cupcakes just because......

I have to stop and take a moment to think about all of the wonderful friends I would not have if it was not for this company.  There are so many ladies that I just would not have meet without CTMH.

Thank you to each and every one of you for being in my life.

Get Ready For Some Workshops!

Workshops are BACK!!!!

But why did they go away?

Long story short... the college expenses for Kaela have been higher than we as a family expected so I took a part time job.  If you have been with me since my hospital days then you know that I take both my "day job" and CTMH seriously and hate to schedule then have to cancel due to work obligations.

I asked Kaela's' previous employers if they needed a daytime hostess with no experience and they said yes!  So you are now looking at the newest hostess at La Finca - Allen location.   They are open on Saturdays and since I was not sure when I would be working I did not want you to buy the supplies for the workshops then have me have to cancel a week before to work.  That is not fair to you.

I finally worked up the courage to  explain to the owners about CTMH and my workshops and crops then asked if it would be possible to NOT work one Saturday a month so that I could have time for both a workshop and a crop once  a month.  Oscar not only understood but is on board!

So Workshops will now be on the same Saturday as Crop nights.

Create Kindness Kit = Fun

My Create Kindness kit arrived today after taking a tour with the USPS truck.  I placed my order on September 1st and it took 12 days to get to me - long story but I have my kit finally so I will be happy.

I am having a blast with this kit and I plan on using it to slip love notes into Mikes lunch or a happy note for Kaela to find in her car or backpack.  The original kit comes with everything you need but adhesive to complete in one sitting or a crop but I am making a few changes to make them more my style.

Original Kit:

Featured Product(s):
Create Kindness card kit, which includes:

 (1) My Acrylix® mini stamp organizer,
(8) exclusive M-size stamp sets,
 (24) 3" × 3" pre-printed card bases with envelopes,
 (24) pre-cut 1 ¾" white circles,
(1) 2" × 2" My Acrylix® block,
(1) mini Archival Black Exclusive Inks™ stamp pad.

Changes I am making:

*Slate Ink
*Lemon, Willow, Emerald, and Raspberry mats for the sentiment circles.

I was thinking of matting all of the cards with Slate cardstock but I like the pops of color better.  Another change you can make is to use colored pencils or markers to fill in the sentiment stamp images.  The kit comes with a mini Archival Ink pad so if you choose to use markers the alcohol markers will not cause your lines to bleed.  I do not plan on "coloring" the sentiment images so I am fine using my slate ink pad.

There is still time to order your very own kit -
I know you will love it as much as I do.

Speaking of Crop... I hope to see you this Saturday!!!

Be sure to hop on over to Meet Up to RSVP

It has been awhile.....

It has been a while since I have been in my scraproom.

We moved Kaela to far North Texas to live with her grand parents because they are closer to the university and moved my mother in to our house full time.  So I have had people coming and going all summer.

As much as we hate it sometimes crafting takes a backseat to life.

BUT.... BUT....

Remember back in May when I bought a used typewriter from Ebay?  It worked great until I put a new ribbon on then it stopped working. I have fiddled with it for a bit but we all know how I am when it comes to fixing things (no talent there) so I am going to donate it to the second hand store with a note describing the problem and maybe someone will know how to fix it and love it again.  I only paid $25 for it on Ebay so I am content with this solution.

This does not leave be without a typewriter because...

(photo from Michaels website)

I found a vintage looking brand new typewriter from We R Memory Keepers and it is PINK! But that is not the only fun feature for me.

Pink
Small
Vintage looking
Uses standard replacement ribbon
No plugs needed (Manual Machine)
Goes clank, clank when in use
It just makes me happy.....

Why do I need a typewriter?
Besides the fact that I just missed having one in the house,  I love writing letters on a typewriter, use it in my planner, and making journalling cards in my scrapbooking and in a pinch if I hate my hand writing that day - addressing envelopes.

I need some practice because I have not used a manual machine since I was little but that in itself can be fun too.

Computer CRASH!!!!

Yep it is dead!

We had a major storm on Friday with multiple electrical outages and it killed one of my hard drives on my Mac Desktop Pro.  I will be making an appointment with Apple as soon as Mike can go with me to the Apple store.

Mike can replace the hard drive but he does not have the Apple OS that he needs to get it going and we just want to double check that it is the hard drive although it is acting like it did last time I had one die.  BTW why is it always my machine that dies?

For those that are wondering ... YES this is my main computer that died that has all of my photos and CTMH business info on it.  I am not worried about loss of data because after this happened last time I signed up for Carbonite so all of BOTH my hard drives are backed up - I just have to wait a bit for the fix.

Until then I will be working from my phone and my Mac Air so bear with me if things look a little weird.

I have been posting the photos of the heritage album on Facebook but did not get the photos blogged before the crash.

You may have also heard that I now have a part time job again so things are a little busy around here again.  But Kaela is back at UNT for the year so life should slow down just a bit.

Thank you for sticking with me for all of these years.

Mother's Photos

As you know my mother has moved in with us full time and with that comes her personal belongings.  We have done very well with merging her stuff with our stuff but the one item that was giving me a headache was all of the photos she had on her walls.

The first step was to get them off the wall... my step father was determined that they were not going to fall off the wall for any reason - he attached them to the walls with screws!
 Seriously!
After we were finally able to get them all down, I then had to get them all out of the frames.  The frames were just toast and I was not able to salvage any of them.  It was during this process that I decided the best way to preserve these photos but keep them out for viewing is to put them into an album that my mother can get down any time she would like to be able to look at her memories.

I then had it in my head that I needed to put them in some sort of order by "family" or "event" but this quickly began to overwhelm me to the point of just wanting to stop even before I began.  After thinking on it for a bit while finishing off a bag of pretzels I decided to just pick a photo - any photo and just get started.  I can always put them in order after all of the layouts are done.

I took this photo with my phone with no editing so please forgive the poor lighting.

This is my Aunt Teen and I have always loved this photo of her.  She died when I was 12 but I have the best memories of her laughing with all of the kids in my family gathered around her.

I love her smile, just love it.

I had to follow up with family via FB to find out her real name because I only know her as "Teen" so I will had her name and a date if I can find one.   I wanted to keep this photo on the vintage side so I found that I still had paper from the "BLISS" paper pack from many years ago but I am so glad I found it because it is perfect for this layout.

I have a feeling that this album is going to take me a while because I will have to talk to different family members for names, dates and places.
Also a side effect of scrapbooking is going down memory lane.

There is no time limit on getting this project done so I think I will just enjoy the process.

Georgie - You Got This

So you think that the "Georgie" Paper is just baby paper and you really are not going to buy it.  Ok - I can see where you are coming from.  I get it.... but...

Flip it over.
You heard me...
Flip the paper over to see that it really is not very baby like at all.

Funny how one paper pack you think is one way can be very different on the other side.  I can not tell you how many times I have sworn to not buy a paper pack because it was "too" something and did not fit my needs.  Then I would see it in person and change my mind.

Give all papers a chance because the one that you think you will not like might end up being your favorite paper of the year.

CTMH Convention 2016

I am sitting here in the hotel in Orlando still on a convention buzz.  I did not blog from convention for a couple of reasons.  Mainly I just did not have time - it was hectic this year!  Also the internet was wonky in some places and the main reason and yes I know it is lame but I was in building 5 this year and from the main lobby / convention area to building 5 is a 1 mile hike!  By the time I was finish for the day and walked back to the room I was a sweaty, tired mess.

If you follow me on Facebook  (Follow Me Here) then you noticed that I was posting during the sessions as much as I can.  Most of what I was learning I have to keep under wraps until the next catalog but I can show photos of the fun!!!!

Kaela came with me on this trip and we were super excited for our first mother / daughter weekend.

She had to take mid-term exams and do some homework while we were here but it was ok because she had plenty of time while I was in class myself.

Just a few of the Texas ladies.

After a long day in the park with Kaela it was time for our yearly team meeting.  I loved seeing friends that I keep up with on FB but only visit with in person at convention.

Day one and I know it does not look like we are having fun but we are hiding it really well.  The room was buzzing with excitement but we were being calm here so we could pay attention to the General Session.

During the first General Session they were having a new product give away and guess who had her name called!!!!  ME!!!  I can not show it to you but I can tell you it is a full paper pack and a pack of coordinating embellishments.  Talk about a happy girl!

We always receive our Exclusive Convention Consultant bags right after the first General Session and this year CTMH gave us a rolling backpack that hold 12 x 12 products.  It is very thought out and well made and I was able to get ALL of my convention supplies and swag in the bag at the same time.  That is a first for me. At the end of the day I would take out the completed artwork so it would not get banged up and make sure I was ready to go for the next day.

During the second day we sat back for some business classes and creative sessions.  Look at that room of ladies just waiting to get started.

This is a small sneak peek at some of the artwork we were creating.  We were learning the "smoosh method" of watercolors and I loved it so much I am thinking about a small make a take session during a crop soon.

After day 2 Kaela and I were able to catch up with the Vietti's.  They are dear friends from Texas that moved to Florida several years ago.

The general session for day 3 was one emotional day.   Not only did we get to see our CEO and hear from her (LOVE HER) but it was also the day for the Operation Smile Auction.  Consultants from all over the world make the most beautiful artwork and donate it to the auction.  The money raised then goes to our official charity - Operation Smile.

This is my "grandmother" upline just as the album she created and donated -hit a winning bid $1,500.00 and all of that money raised goes to Operation Smile.   That is 6 surgeries for children that need life saving medical care.  The last total raised that I read from this auction was $27,000 = 108 children that will be able to have the surgery.  More info about Operation Smile

Have you ever noticed that when you place your order on my website you can round up your total for Operation Smile.  Those pennies add up to surgeries.

I learned so much this year and I can not wait to come home and share it with you.

I have to hurry up and post this because bell services will be here soon to pick up our luggage.  Today is a travel day and as much as I was excited to come to convention I am just as happy to be going home to my family.
