Purple Toes - Purple Cast

Well it seems when we get together during the next 6 weeks I will be sporting a new fashion accessory.

I have a tendency to develop tendonitis because of the Cerebral Palsy and the way I walk.   Over the years I have learned how to treat myself and do pretty good on my own.  I own the boot the docs love to put me in and I know to take Advil for the swelling.

In August (yes I said August) when I traveling with Mike on business trips I felt like the tendonitis was going to flair up again.  So I started my normal course of treatment.... boot, Advil, rest, & elevation.  None of my normal treatment options were working and the tendon was getting worse.

I went to the Orthopedic doctor today and after a pretty long conversation concerning "regular" treatment and "CP" treatment we opted to try using a real cast to hold my foot into position and to try and let the tendon heal for a bit.

So I will go in every two weeks to have the cast removed - take x-rays - and do an evaluation to see how things are doing.  I can be casted up to 6 weeks.  If that does not work I may be looking at surgery to repair where the tendon attaches to the bone on the back of my heel.

Since getting casted, by tendon pain has gone and now I am just dealing with my leg / foot being angry for getting put in an unnatural position and being forced to stay there.

All CTMH events are still on.

I am still mobile just give me extra time to get to the door because I am a slow poke but I am not in pain.

It looks worse than it is.  I promise!

I hope to see you this weekend for Crop Night
Saturday
Crop starts at 6:00 pm
Bring your supplies for your projects and let just play all night all.

  2. Yes we had to remove the purple cast the next day and put me back into an Air Cast. I was cleared last week but may have to go back in the air cast for a little longer because the pain has come back but not everyday so that is progress. Thank you so much for asking.

  3. No... I have been casted many times. I have cerebral palsy so casting is used as 24 therapy, this time I have tendonitis gone crazy. We are hoping that I can avoid surgery. I own the Air Cast so I can use it when needed.

    1. When I broke my wrist and thumb I had to wear a plaster and a sling. After four weeks I had the apointment with the doctor to see the progress. He cut the plaster, took xrays and told me that I needed a different cast.I went to the cast room and he asked me what colour I prefer. They had a lots of colours.I went with a light blue cast. Then for my third cast I went with a light green cast.Did you choose the purple colour for your cast?Best wishes.
