Thinking of Easter

I have some time to kill today so I started thinking of Easter Cards to send this year.  I always have good intentions of sending Easter Cards but they never make it in the mail.  I saw a sample card in “Cardmaker” Magazine March 2011 page 70.  I like how simple yet again elegant this card is and at the same time I was thinking it would lend itself well with the new CTMH colors.

Here is what I am working around in my head.

(note this is not a “final” card)

“Wings” Sympathy Card

Now that I am on a roll the Mojo is coming back.  Here is another card that I am making for Mom.  It is almost exactly copied from Big Red Scraps but I loved it so much I had to try it.

Supplies Used: (All are CTMH unless noted)

Paper Pack: Wings

Stamps: Card Chatter – Sympathy

Inks: Black

Ribbon: Contraband

Butterfly Punch: Martha Steward

Glitter: Diamond Stickles

“Passages” Sympathy Card

I was just talking with Mom on the phone and she really needs more Sympathy Cards so I needed to get my Mojo back on the creative front.

I bought a Kindle early January so I have been reading a ton :-) but it time to find balance. I can read and scrapbook without going overboard.

Mom stated that she her card stash is holding up but that she really needs more sympathy cards and less birthday cards.  Did I say she lives in a retirement community?  So…..

I wanted to use the “Passages” paper pack I have been hoarding because think this paper pack just has an old world feel to it.  I will be using it also on our camping pictures from last summer when we went to Palo Duro but I think I can spare a few sheets for cards.

Supply List (All product is CTMH unless noted)

Paper: Passages X7126B

Stamps: Card Chatter – Sympathy D1476

Stamp: Live Inspired C1408

Inks: Barn Red, Brown Bag, Garden Green

Ribbon: Contraband (oops)

Only 4 more days!!!!

Are you excited yet? There are only 4 more days until the CTMH Spring / Summer 2011 catalog goes LIVE!  I can hardly wait.

2011SS_IdeaBook_cover

But that also means that there is only 4 more days to order out of the special JANUARY only “Inspirations”  mini catalog.  Consider it a sale even before the Spring / Summer 2011 catalog even comes out.

As a reminder:  Tomorrow night  is Workshop night then SATURDAY night is Free crop night.

Do you USE your SCRAPS?

I am sitting here in my scraproom getting organized (a little clean-up) and listening to the  Paperclipping Roundtable Podcast

today's topic  is:

DO YOU USE YOUR SCRAPS?

Early last year I decided that I  really needed to get my scrap cardstock in order so I came up with a solution that works really great for me.

DSC_0001DSC_0002

These are legal size file folders and I have one per CTMH color of cardstock.  I love it.  Well I just about fell out of my chair when I heard Nancy Nally  who is the founder of Scrapbook Update state that she uses this same concept!

1. So once you have your scraps in order, do you really use them?

For me… YES!  I use them to make cards or when I need a small section of cardstock for a layout.

2. Is it worth it to sort your scraps?

I think so, since for me it is saving me money.

3. Do you keep ALL your scraps?

No, I only keep “useable” scraps. Meaning can I punch or die cut with this scrap?

Give sorting your scraps some thought and if you do not already keep and use your scraps it might be worth a try.

Last ones for the night

Laundry is finished, Kaela is having a sleep over and I still managed to finish a couple more layouts tonight.  Creative wise this is the slowest I have ever scrapped but I am really happy with the results.

The paper used in all of the “kitchen” layouts is Cherry – O  and I used  the Imagine and Magic How To Books for the designs.

If you really look you find a new product from the Spring / Summer 2011 Catalog that will be coming out February 1st.

Keep Guessing…

P.S.  There is a little contraband on these pages but that will keep you guessing too.  :-)

February Workshop Info “Sweetheart”

After looking at the workshop flyer for February,  I think for this one we will want to do CARDS!

2011SS_GWOTG_Sweetheart_cards_text

I am going to have so much fun using these cards  as a love note in school lunches or in my case sneaking them into Mikes computer bag.   This card workshop will make 6 cards with tons of paper left over.  You will also have the instructions for  to do the scrapbook pages at home.

This workshop will be available to order  February 1st, 2011

Workshop night will be February 25, 2011.

In Trouble with Kaela

Kaela came in my scraproom today and fussed at me for not being finished with her 7 grade album yet. She said that she is almost done with 8th grade and I should be finished with her 7th grade album.

I looked at her like she had 2 heads then she sheepishly said she does not want me to get behind in my scrapping. (laughing myself out of my chair now).   I ask who is caught up?  Not me, but that is the fun part, I will always have scrapping material.  So I started working on her album again, here is what I was able to get done so far today.

My vellum tape did not want to work right, I am irritated that you can see it.

And here is a layout that I completed during the October Workshop night and just forgot to post.  I had her 7th grade album in mind when I planned it.  Does that count as working on it?

Back to laundry and scrappin….

Trying to find “My Scraproom”

After working 5 (12 hour) shifts I am finally home BUT I have to clean my scraproom before I can start creating anything.  My poor little room became a dumping ground during the holidays.

So I am going to spend tonight getting organized and I will start playing again this week.  See you soon.

Fun with Butterflies

I have a card sitting on my desk for about a month… not finished.  I had the stamping, embossing and sewing all done but it needed something.  Well the new January “Inspirations” Brochure came out and well I got inspired.  Wings is the new January Stamp of the Month and it is the butterfly that struck me.

Wings January SOTM 11

Here is a different card that I made using Wings.

It shows the Butterfly stamp very well.

DSC_0001

And while I love the butterfly on this card it just was not the “right butterfly” for the card sitting on my desk.   But I did find the “right” butterfly.

DSC_0001

These butterflies are made from a Martha Stewart punch that I found and they fit the style I was going for perfect.  Yes, I know they are not the CTMH butterflies but I love them too.

The colors in this card are:

Desert Sand

Sunset

Pear

I used liquid glass and glitter to stiffen the butterflies and to make them sparkle.  I embossed the “thank you” just so it did not get lost next to the butterflies.

HINT:

When brushing liquid glass over a small punch or stamped image place small wax paper under work just to catch the mess and as your art dries it will not stick to the wax paper.  I used a cheap kids paint brush to apply the liquid glass and glitter and then just trashed it when done.

Inspirations in January

Christmas is over and the Fall / Winter CTMH catalog is finished so what are you supposed to do now?

May I introduce some INSPIRATION?
