Well the racks came in and Mike immediately started to label each and every little post with the CTMH colors. While this storage method will not work for everyone, I am really enjoying having them in plain sight. I am also finding that by having the daubers hanging on the wall in front of me I reach for my inks more often. What is that phrase… out of sight out of mind? Not anymore. Enjoy!
Well the surgery went well and I am back to myself, and chopping at the bit to get some scrapbooking done. I spent yesterday putting my house in order, laundry and getting some cooking done just so I could play all day today!
I was home for a couple of days last week and tried to do some layouts with anesthesia still on board – yea they look exactly like you are thinking! But after some thought I decided that I would post those too so you can see that not every layout has to be a “perfect 10”. So with my trusty pug at my side and the IPod playing the Twilight score, I will put forth the layouts I worked on during this past week.
These are still photos of the week we spent in Florida 2008 for the Close To My Heart Convention. You will see papers that are not CTMH, but since I do not have a scrapbook store near me, I splurged and spent some money in a local Orlando store and picked up “theme” papers for some of the parks in the area.

This is the “stickles” technique I was working on one night. I painted the stickles on to the letters because I wanted a shimmer effect. I think it turned out really well.

Scrapbooking is making a story book!
That is it! People ask me all of the time “why do you scrapbook” or “why invest all that money on a photo album?” I am creating a story book of my life and my families life for generations to come. I am really big on journaling and to me the photos are just a part of the story, if you do not tell someone what is going on in the layout, then it is just a dressed up photo album. So … this is why I scrapbook, why I love to scrapbook. I am capturing moments with my camera and telling the story of my life.
My kid sure does put up with a lot from her mommy, I was going downstairs a few minutes ago to make a sandwich. When you scrap in the middle of the night you get hungry… I happened to look outside and was amazed that at 0230 it was so light outside. I had to check the clock because I would have sworn that it was closer to 0530.
So what do I do? I grab my child and we go outside at 0230 to get the perfect snow pictures. When else can you stand in the middle of the road without getting run over? So out we go giggling like a couple of loons, with snow getting our feet wet. Welcome to a rare “blizzard” in Texas.

As some of you know I had dental surgery Tuesday morning. I finally woke up yesterday about 4:00pm and the first thing I wanted besides something to drink was to scrapbook! I am not going to post those layouts because they look like a 3 year old playing with paper. I was back in bed about 4 hours later. I am trying to get some work done but I keep getting dizzy so scrappin is slow going and lets not talk about my spelling! But I am not in any real pain so I have to be very thankful for that. Until then… I think I will go back to bed now. See you soon.
What do you do when you have a day off from work, no laundry, no errands, and your child is at school? Scrapbook of course! My day began at 8:00 AM and as you can see I am still going…..with lots of coffee. I have to stay awake so that I can sleep tomorrow, to go to work tomorrow night so here is what I have done so far.

I have Gatorland finished, Sea World is next. Wish me luck because I am trying a new technique with Stickles and if it works I will share. Oh look at the time, it is 4:00 am maybe I should try and get some sleep while the Stickles dry. Wish me luck because you guys know sleeping is considered “optional” when I get my scrappin mojo going.

Well I have over 300 photos to get processed before I can begin the art of scrapbooking again. Last night I made piles and sorted by theme (birthday, Christmas ect) All of these photos are for 2009 so I am not having to worry about mixing years together. Here is my system for keeping my photos organized before scrapping them.
Here is a peek inside the accordion file that I use for each year or theme album. I normally scrap by year but vacations get their own albums.
Any larger memorabilia gets placed with the photo envelopes. I will make a note on the envelope not to forget I have larger items to scrap also.
While I was getting ready to send photos over to Snapfish for printing I made a point of printing doubles for the photos that are going to be in the FAMILY 2009 album and KAELA 7th GRADE album. I will also make sure to print the journaling for 2 times for these photos also. There is really no point to trying to journal the same set of photos 2 different ways if they are going in 2 separate albums.
Here is a sample of how I get the journaling pre-done before scrappin my photos. I get all of the pre-work done so that I am not so rushed to get all of my photos in to albums. I do not have to worry about forgetting details because I have already written them down. I feel I can take my time on the creative side once I get the story finished and my photos are properly stored.
I print the “story” for each group of photos on one sheet of vellum and cut it into squares (4 per page). This is a good standard size for my pages. And I love that the vellum will match any layout I decide to do in the future.
Well back to processing for me. I want to play later on today.
